Scholarships

Two AUSA Scholarships are available through Jefferson Community College.  One is for active duty service members of the United States Army who will be attending Jefferson Community College on either a full-time or part-time basis in the fall.  The other is for a family member of a full-time active duty member of the United States Army.  The scholarships requirements are detailed below.

The Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Active Duty Service Member Scholarship – for any active duty service member of the United States Army.

To apply for the AUSA Active Duty Scholarship soldiers must obtain a letter of recommendation from his or her unit commander, write an essay of not more than two pages addressing career and education goals, and obtain a letter from an Army education services officer which validates any previous post-secondary course work and grades received.  All information must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office, Jefferson Community College, 1220 Coffeen Street, Watertown, New York 13601, according to their annual schedule.

The Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Family Member Scholarship – is for a spouse, child or parent of a member of the United States Army, (full-time active duty) who meets the legal definition of a military dependent, attending Jefferson Community College full or part-time.

To apply for the AUSA Family Member Scholarship the family member will need to obtain a letter of recommendation from someone other than an immediate family member, write an essay of not more than two typed pages addressing career and educational goals, and obtain a letter validating any previous post-secondary education course work and grades received, as well as verification that selection criteria above is met.  All this information must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office, Jefferson Community College, 1220 Coffeen Street, Watertown, New York 13601, according to their annual schedule.
